Serving Refuge of Hope

Refuge of Hope has been an excellent ministry to some of the most vulnerable people in our neighborhoods – homeless women. They have overcome many obstacles and continue to serve with grace, love, and tenacity. Refuge has often been full and has recognized the need for expansion. They are currently planning to renovate the upstairs space at 1032 East Main Street to create more capacity, offer more ministry, and touch more lives with Jesus’ love. They are currently seeking teams who wish to aid in demolition and construction (eg. swing a sledge hammer, carry out debris, etc.) to help them with this renewed vision. Refuge of Hope is in need of the following items: Toiletries and Cleaner, Paper Towels, Laundry Soap, Dryer Sheets, New Twin Bed Sheets, Towels and Washcloths. If you feel led to serve or give toward this effort, please contact the office to get connected. For all of us, let us pray for this work and this ministry.

Thank You

The Bolser family would like to thank our congregation for the love and support extended to us during Phil’s illness and passing. You may have said a kind word, sent a card, said a prayer, gave a hug, whatever it was it did not go unnoticed. We thank you and feel blessed by all of you! In Christ love, Mary Alice & Family.

A Special Thank You

A special thank you to Pat Jarvis and Shanron Rider and their amazing committee of helpers. To all the women who prepared the wonderful meal for our family and out of town guests, thank you is a small expression of your big donation!! We were blessed – Mary Alice & Family

2023 INUMC ANNUAL CONFERENCE–

The Indiana Annual Conference of the UMC was held June 8-10 at Ball State University.  The theme was Praying Forward, no turning back focused on 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.  A full survey of what happened can be found at www.inumc.org/annualconference . It was good to gather the body – prayer was had, meals shared, the Word preached, God was worshipped, reports made, administration accomplished, people were retired and ordained.  There are good things happening amongst the people called Methodists.

174 churches disaffiliated and 18 closed while 1 was opened.  Resolution 2 (R2) passed asking all those who wish to disaffiliate to step away from leadership positions within the AC. R4 was passed to empower LGBTQIA+ people in all aspects of UMC life and hold in abeyance the current discipline. R5 was passed to ask active and retired clergy to withdraw who do not fully support the UMC covenant. R6 was passed to ask GC delegates to change the discriminatory and harmful language in the BOD around sexual orientation. R7 was passed to support the creation of a more autonomous US regional conference.  Motions from the floor passed to send a letter asking the removal of a GC delegate and to send a letter to our IN Assembly about changing our gun laws.  While there everyone received a book as part of a collective missions effort to support literacy.  This was made possible in part by Every child can read from Richmond.  Please pray for the ongoing work of the Annual Conference.
