Read the Bible in 2023!

Here then I am, far from the busy ways of men. I sit down alone: only God is here. In His presence I open, I read His book; for this end, to find the way to heaven.” John Wesley knew and lived the Bible. The Methodist movement he started had Bible reading at its core. Let us build this up afresh in the New Year. Will you schedule now time to be with God and His Word every day in 2023? Central will be embarking on reading the Bible through with the ‘One Story that Leads to Jesus’ plan from the Bible Project. This plan can be picked up in the office, found online, or followed in the YouVersion Bible App. You can go over these readings in your small group or at our Fireside Conversations every Monday at 1:30. May the love of God’s word cause us to cry out with Mr. Wesley, “O give me that book! At any price, give me the book of God! I have it: here is knowledge enough for me. Let me be “homo unius libri.”

Overnight Warming Shelter
The Mayor opened up the Municipal Building as a warming station, starting at 8pm Thursday, December 22nd. They will allow individuals an opportunity to get out of the cold and warm up in the Hutton Room. If you need a warming station, or know of someone that does, please enter the South door and walk down the hallway to the Hutton Room. It will be staffed by the Richmond Fire Department and other City Team volunteers. The Hutton Room will be available as a warming station until 8am Monday (December 26) morning. Warming stations are intended for short-term use and will have minimal accommodations. The City Building will offer water and restrooms. The Richmond Municipal Building is located at 50 N 5th St. We encourage everyone to check on friends and neighbors, particularly those at higher risk for extreme winter weather such as the elderly, individuals with disabilities or medical conditions, people experiencing homelessness, and any other vulnerable citizens. The City of Richmond is dedicated to keeping all its residents safe. We hope this warming station will help those in need during this time.
