Rhythms for 2023

God’s love finds us right where we are. It’s impact can be subtle, profound, and life-changing. Day by day we bask in it. However, the cares, concerns and habits of this world so easily entangle. When we finally look-up again, we might find ourselves at some distance and out of touch of the love which once grabbed ahold so tightly. Discipleship of Jesus involves daily connecting with Spiritual Practices that His life might flow through us. There are daily, monthly, and seasonal rhythms which keep us loving God dearly, seeing Him clearly, and following nearly.

John Wesley gave guidance in these matters to the people called Methodists through the General Rules.   Specifically to our rhythms of discipleship he offered, It is expected of all who desire to continue in these societies that they should continue to evidence their desire of salvation,

By attending upon all the ordinances of God; such are:

The public worship of God.

The ministry of the Word, either read or expounded.

The Supper of the Lord.

Family and private prayer.

Searching the Scriptures.

Fasting or abstinence.”

Wesley offered much more guidance throughout the years, but left this as an overarching and somewhat simple guide to stay connected with the God who loves us and desires our good. If you would like greater peace and deeper faith this year, please contact one of the pastors at Central to meet and learn more about the rhythms and practices which keep us in God’s love.
