March 19th Updates

  • Maundy Thursday Experience – Jesus came to Passion week with a small group of friends.  Gather your household or bubble friends and walk through this experience to encounter Jesus’ final Passover – to encounter your God anew.  Small groups (2-8) will go station by station to act and reflect as we together prepare ourselves for Easter morning.  Gathered groups of pilgrims can journey through together every 5 minutes from the Parlor here at Central from 6-8pm.
  • Good Friday Service at 7pm at Central – The terrible event of the crucifixion told through Jesus’ seven last words. Come as we again remember what our sin has done. Come as we remember that true love bleeds. The invitation link to come in a few weeks, stay tuned.
  • Methodist Sunrise service at 7am at Cope Environmental Service – Join us for a joint Methodist service as we celebrate our risen savior at the breaking of dawn.
  • Easter Communion Service at 10am at Central UMC – HE. IS. RISEN.

UMW Pop-Up
Creative hands will be having a Spring Pop-Up on Sunday March 21st after Worship in Fellowship Hall.  Come check us out!

No Lamplighter?!
We will not be having a Lamplighter for April, May, or June due to our office manager, Christin Hampton going on maternity leave start March 26th. During this time, we will be offering announcements and opportunities on our Central webpage – www.richmondcumc.com under Central News. Further, we will communicate our stories, devotionals, and check-ins via the blog found there.
We are all about to emerge not just from winter, but also from the distanced, coronavirus ice age. There will be wonderful reunions, communal grief and celebration, and maybe some grace revealed especially for you. As we will be without the Lamplighter, we invite you to chronicle how the Light of the World leads you during this time. Whether it would be through journaling, devotionals, poetry, drawing, painting, building, or essay – please take time to mark how God meets you.
Then, as you feel led, we ask for the people of Central to share these works. We will gather them as they come in to share on the blog, to create a future community devotional, and maybe to have a gallery of art and expression around emerging from this pandemic. You are what make Central so special – an image bearing, adopted child of the Most High God. We look forward to hearing from you. If you have anything you would like to have published, please email Pastor Joseph at joseph@richmondcumc.com or Carla Gillespie at carla@richmondcumc.com

Covid precautions will be in practice as they have been in the past. The bar has been set high as we have forty-six time slots to fill. To register, go to redcrossblood.org enter CUMC in the box that says find a drive, select your time and put it on your calendar. Central has been recognized by the Red Cross as a strong supporter. Real Discipleship Survey

The Real Discipleship Survey is an instrument designed to support the development of maturing disciples at both the personal and congregational levels. It measures the level of maturity in each of six dimensions of discipleship: Worship, Hospitality, Open to Jesus, Obeying Jesus, Service, and Generosity. The Indiana Conference has purchased a conference-wide license which makes the survey free for all INUMC churches and congregants! You can find the links to the Real Discipleship Survey and the Instructions on our website a richmondcumc.com/exploring/

Prayer Partners

I have had multiple responses from prayerful people who would love to be partnered with a young person in our church. Many parents have also responded that they would love for their child to be a part of this great opportunity for prayerful connections!  We only have one more need at this time!  We are in need of some praying MEN who would love to pray for and encourage (via mail) a young man or boy.  If you feel God nudging you to join us in the Prayer Partner journey, please contact Sheri via email at sheri@richmondcumc.comThanks!
