Continuing the Conversation – UMC Update

The Administrative Council is inviting you to attend a follow-up session to continue the conversation regarding the UMC and the upcoming 2024 General Conference. We will provide information regarding the current state of things in the UMC, and if desired, paths for disaffiliation. We want to provide communication opportunities, receive more input via a questionnaire, and discern the next steps for Central. Please continue to join us in prayer over this decision as we discern God’s leading. We will hold this session in the Sanctuary following services on Sunday, November 13th. ~The Administrative Council

Join us November 20th following worship for a Lunch and Learn. The Endowment Ministry has a mission to ensure Central’s presence for decades to come. This learning session will be about insurance. Our world increasingly necessitates insurance, so let’s seek a better understanding together. Longtime Central member Jan Passmore will share from his wisdom gained over a long career in the insurance industry. After the brief presentation, Jan has graciously agreed to go over your household’s current insurance portfolio (please bring your policies!) and specific questions to ensure you and your household are adequately covered. We will gather in the Fellowship Hall.

Community Prayer Focus TODAY!

This month we get to join our community in praying for Community Thirst for God. Communities can change in an instant when people begin to thirst for God. Please view the prayer packet here.

Go to redcrossblood.org and enter code CUMCRICH in the box that says find a blood drive. Appointment times available 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2022. Wayne County Jail Ministry

I was in prison and you came to visit me … I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:36, 40) Visiting prisoners has been and continues to be a hallmark of Christian ministry. Paul wrote several letters from prison. Jesus, Peter, and John all spent time in prison. The invitation continues to us today. The Jail Ministry for the Wayne County Jail is seeking followers of Jesus to serve on its visitation, Crisis Ministry, and Jail services teams. To do so, you will first need to complete an orientation. Fill out an application and bring it with you to the scheduled orientation or you may mail it to the address on the application. Applications are available in the office. We have two orientations scheduled with our Jail Administrators; Saturday November 12th at 9am and Thursday November 17th at 4:30pm. These orientations will be held in person at the Sheriff administrative offices on the second floor of the Wayne County Jail, 200 East Main Street Richmond Indiana.

STEWARDSHIP SUNDAY THIS SUNDAY!

Please bring your 2023 pledge card (we will have more if needed) to the 10am service to offer it before our God. Together, we will ensure Jesus is central at Central. Together, we will make 2023 a year of love and blessing to those who gather, the community of Richmond, and beyond. Together, we will proclaim the hope in Jesus for another 200 years.

Central in the Schools

Richmond Schools have experienced a shortage of teachers and paraprofessionals this year. This does not mean our children must feel the consequences. The church can stand in the gap with a ministry of presence. Whether this is making copies, watching a hallway, answer phones or whatever – we can begin to make a difference, now. Please prayerfully consider giving an hour a week to serve in one of our three neighborhood schools (Test, Vaille, Starr). Background check forms and sign-up can be found in the church office.

Communities in Schools Undies for Sundies

“Undies for Sundies” is an effort by our Communities in Schools of Wayne County to address one of the most immediate needs of our children. Children of all ages and sizes are in need of under garments…both boys and girls sizes 4-18 are in need. We are asking if you could please join us in this effort to eliminate one important barrier for these children to be able to participate and achieve in their everyday education. The mission of Communities In Schools is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. CIS of Wayne County believes that every student needs and deserves these “5 basics”

  1. A one-on-one relationship with a caring adult
  2. A safe place to learn and grow
  3. A healthy start and future
  4. A marketable skill upon graduation
  5. A chance to give back to peers and the community

Thank You, Amy Hubbell, Board Member Kathy Khamis, Site Coordinator at Starr Elementary School Marci Lindahl, Site Coordinator at Test Intermediate School
