Silent Retreat
Saturday March 12th from 8:15am-:00pm5 at Hayes Arboretum. Cost: $10 (Scholarships are available)
So much of our everyday can be noise and distraction. Good and bad we fill our moments with song, talk, screens, scrolling, reading, writing, doing, pets, work, scheduling, driving, arriving, leaving, preparing, cleaning, clothes, kids – only to see a week go by in the blink of an eye.
Though life brings us through such seasons, following Jesus calls us to enduring, daily presence. Jesus regularly pursued silence and retreat in his unforced rhythms of prayer. Sometimes we need an invitation to pause and do the same.
Join us for a day of contemplation as we enter the spiritual discipline of silence. Pastor Joseph and Pastor Phil will lead a day of prayer, contemplation, and silence as we journey closer to God. Phones will be either turned in for the day or turned off and left in your vehicle.
The day will begin at 8:30am at Hayes Arboretum. Lunch, water, coffee, snacks, and a book will be provided.
What to bring: Bible, pen, journal, presence, appropriate clothes for walking through Hayes
Lenten Hymn Study
We will be offering a 5-week virtual hymn study over Lent, examining and discussing some of the classics (Were You There, When I Survey The Wondrous Cross, etc). Email Madeleine if you would like to join this study: madeleine@richmondcumc.com
New Members Class
During Lent we will be offering a New Members Class on Sunday Mornings in the
Memorial Room. If this is your first Sunday or if you have been attending Central for years, this is for all called to commit prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness to Jesus here at Central. Paul tells us, “For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.” Please contact Pastor Joseph if you are interested in attending or would like more information.
Central Blood Drive for Red Cross
Central United Methodist Church, 1425 E Main St. Richmond, IN is scheduled for our next Red Cross blood draw. It will be held on Thursday, May 5th between noon and 5:00pm. Continued Coronavirus Concerns
2022 marks year four of Covid in the world, and numbers are higher than ever before. Please continue to pray for all who are affected, all who are battling it, and all of our neighbors. Not all have chosen to fight against coronavirus in the same way, yet we are all in this fight together. Still, pandemic fatigue and the new wave of omicron are far reaching. As a people called to love our neighbors, please continue to offer your compassion as we battle through this latest wave. At Central, we continue to keep our sanctuary distanced. We continue to offer masks. We continue to offer online services for all who are hunkering down, have been exposed, are experiencing symptoms, or are just worn out from wondering what to do. We continue to be available throughout the week for whatever the need. We continue to pray and come alongside all our neighbors in these times. We continue to proclaim hope in Jesus, minister in the power of the Holy Spirit, and rejoice in the promises our God has given. Lord, hear our prayers.
