Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who purchase candles or gave a donation over the past few weeks. Because of your generosity and the generosity of our childcare parents, we were able to raise $3,202.70! Central Childcare Fundraiser!

Starting now through September 15th, Central’s Childcare is having a Warm Glow Candle Fundraiser! We are very excited to get started using a new curriculum, Teaching Strategies: Gold and Creative Curriculum! Along with customizing their activities and curriculum to fit the needs of the kids, we would like to begin making some changes to our classrooms. That’s where the fundraiser comes in! In order to make these changes to best benefit the children, there will be furniture we will need to purchase, as well as some additional supplies for some of the centers. I am very excited about what the future holds at Central Childcare -Kathy George

Come visit us after worship this Sunday in the main hallway to order your candles or other smell-good items! Please make all checks out to Central United Methodist Church and put “Childcare Fundraiser” in the memo line. We will also accept card and cash.

Don’t want candles but still want to donate? You can give online here!

Welcome Back TRIBE!

On the 27th Tribe will have it first day back from the summer with a massive Kick-off party! And this invitation also includes our 5-6th graders as well! We will start with a cookout at the Middle Fork reservoir park at shelter #4, were we will be grilling out family favorites like hamburgers, hotdogs, grilled chicken and more. Shortly after we will move on to our massive water war, where Tribe members/family members will meet on the battlefield to wage wholesome wet watery war. We will have some water guns and balloons available, and you are welcomed to bring your own arsenal or armory, but nothing that could harm others. We want a nice clean fight. We will have many other activities and games for families as well, who may not want to get wet, so please come even if you have no desire to get wet. And please be encouraged to bring friends, we want to have fun but also want to spread the love of Jesus to our neighbors as well. If there is anyone interested in volunteering to help with set up, I would love to hear from you, please call me at 419-376-9914. Blessings and thank you! – Stephen Flores

Community Food Pantry

$21,710 is the total of the Meijer’s SIMPLY GIVE summer promotion for our pantry! Thank you very, very much to everyone who contributed. This is the second highest amount we have ever received through this Meijer program. The $24,060 we received in 2020 was part of a Meijer Corporation special gift to help pantries deal with the effects of the pandemic. This $21,710 is nearly identical to our 2023 first six month loss. We are extremely thankful to each donor, Meijer Corporation for their matching gift and God’s blessing of our ministry.

UWF Fall District Celebration

Our first UWF gathering for fall will be held at the COPE Environmental Center on Thursday, Sept. 14 from 9:30-1:30. We will be joined by women from all over the East District. We will meet at CUMC at 9:00 to carpool to Cope, near Centerville. There will be a light lunch offered and a free will offering will be taken at this event. CREATIVE HANDS will also meet that day here at CUMC from 9:00-1:00, with a light lunch offered at noon. If you have any questions call Ann Cashner at 765-994-1979 or text that number.

Grief Share

No matter what the circumstances, grief recovery is a painful process. To aid in that journey, a community Grief Share support group jointly hosted by the First Presbyterian and the First English Lutheran Churches of Richmond is available and goes from August 10th – November 2nd at the First English Lutheran Church, 2727 East Main Street in Richmond. The group will meet each Thursday morning from 10am – 11:30am. For more information call 765-962-5773 or email parishadministrator@felconline.org

Point-in-Time Count

Every year, the Federal Government commissions a census of the homeless population to better allocate funding across the country. In Indiana, the Continuum of Care is charged with conducting these counts. This year, that date falls on August 25th. Central will again host the efforts of this count. The Emergency Resource Room will open to make sure those on the street have what they need. Please be in prayer for the many homeless neighbors we have in Richmond. If you feel led to join our efforts, please contact Dana Mollenkopf or the church office about the count.

Childcare Fundraiser Starting Next Sunday!

Starting August 20th – September 15th, Central’s Childcare will be having a Warm Glow Candle Fundraiser! We are very excited to get started using a new curriculum, Teaching Strategies: Gold and Creative Curriculum! This program gives us tools that can assist us in assessing children’s development in 3 categories: Cognitive, Physical, and Social/Emotional.

Along with customizing their activities and curriculum to fit their needs, we would like to begin making some changes to our classrooms. That’s where the fundraiser comes in! Creative Curriculum utilizes “centers” to help split the room into separate learning areas such as Dramatic Play, Math & Science, Art, Music, Manipulatives(puzzles, blocks), and Literacy, as well as a “quiet corner” for children to go to when they want to have some alone time or to help them calm down. In order to make these changes to best benefit the children, there will be furniture we will need to purchase, as well as some additional supplies for some of the centers. I am very excited about what the future holds at Central Childcare and can’t wait to see the difference it makes in our little one’s growth and overall development! -Kathy George

Endowments

As we move toward the end of this calendar year, it is a good time to consider gifts. If you are interested in making a gift to your church, now is the time to put your plan into effect. The gift of stocks or bonds can benefit you with additional tax credits. All gifts of a monetary nature can be used for reducing potential tax consequences. Additionally if you do not have a will, there is no better time than now to establish your future desires. If you have questions, please contact Jan Passmore who Chairs our Endowment Committee.

Ushers Needed!
We are in need of 3 ushers to join our teams. You will be serving 2 Sundays in a row and then off for 4 Sundays. A Central usher greets every person with kindness, willing to show a person where the restroom is, can find the Upper Room booklet and other duties as required. A Central usher is always serving the Lord as they do their duties. Being a Central usher represents how Central relates to the congregation and visitors. If you are interested in serving, please see Electa Berk or call the church office at 765-962-8543.
