9/30/22 Updates

Join us in prayer for the people of the Southeast as Hurricane Ian made landfall in Florida as a catastrophic category 4 storm. You can donate directly to UMCOR HERE or through CENTRAL’S ONLINE GIVING HERE. You may also write a check with “UMCOR” in the memo line and place it in the offering during Sunday Worship.

Central in the Schools

Richmond Schools have experienced a shortage of teachers and paraprofessionals this year. This does not mean our children must feel the consequences. The church can stand in the gap with a ministry of presence. Whether this is making copies, watching a hallway, answer phones or whatever – we can begin to make a difference, now. Please prayerfully consider giving an hour a week to serve in one of our three neighborhood schools (Test, Vaile, Starr). Background check forms and sign-up can be found in the church office.

October Events for UWF

Fri-Sat, Oct 7-8, Conference Fall Celebration at St. Luke’s in Indy

Saturday, Oct. 22, Spiritual Growth Retreat—“Renewal—Luke 13” Featuring Rev. Judi Marshall as our retreat leader. Tickets-$10. Lunch will be provided. Renew your spirit through discussions, activities, music, and prayer. All women are welcome. Tickets will be available Sunday, October 9 at church. Invite a friend or two!

Prayer Walk

Prayer connects us daily to a loving God moving in our midst. In his 3 Rules for Methodists, John Wesley calls us to both private and public prayer. On the first Monday of every month at noon, we will have a prayer walk through our neighborhood. We will divide into small groups at the entrance of the church and proceed in different directions. Along the way, we will pause to pick up trash and renew our streets and sidewalks. Please contact Pastor Joseph with any questions.

Trick or Treat in the park 2022

The 2021 Trick or Treat in the Park was such a success that Central has been asked to return in 2022. Our theme for this year’s booth is “So Sweet to Trust in Jesus.” We are in need of volunteers to help engage with, and pass out candy to our community on Saturday, October 29th from 5pm – 7pm. While we encourage you to dress up as your favorite candy, this is not a requirement to help! We are also accepting candy donations. We are expecting close to 1,000 kids and community members to attend Trick or Treat in the Park and would love to have enough candy to pass out to everyone. Candy donations can be placed in the office during our normal operating hours of 9-12 and 1-5 Monday through Thursday and 9-1 on Fridays. If you have any questions, please contact the church office.
