Officer Seara Burton

Please join the Richmond Community in a prayer vigil at the city building today, August 12th, at 7pm. This prayer vigil is to lift up Richmond Police Officer Seara Burton who is fighting for her life after she was shot in the line of duty during a traffic stop. Seara is still listed in critical condition. We are asking for our community and public safety officials to come together as one to lift Officer Burton, her family, friends, and comrades in prayer. 

 

Central Listens – THIS SUNDAY

The Administrative Council will be hosting a LISTENING SESSION for members of the congregation to share their thoughts regarding the direction of Central related to the upcoming General Conference 2024 and the decision related to human sexuality/LGBTQ+ issue. This event is being planned prayerfully and with the intent of furthering communication. Please come and share your thoughts with us. The event will be held in fellowship Hall following service on Sunday, August 14th. Pizza and Drinks will be provided. We hope you will join us. – The Administrative Council

Living in Poverty – The Experience

You are invited to “walk a mile” in the shoes of those facing poverty. Gain an understanding of the challengers individuals face in the poverty environment through an interactive, fast paced event. Shalom Session

Join us on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 12:05 in the Fellowship Hall for a brown bag lunch as we discuss and listen to the matters and efforts breaking and making the Shalom of our community. On the 16th, we will be discussing War, Violence, Peace and whatever else is on the hearts of those attending. Bring your lunch, your bibles, and a listening ear. May God break our hearts for what breaks his in this season.

Low Vision Support Group

Get to know others who are dealing with vision issues and find out about available resources. We will meet in the first Thursday of every month from 10:30am – 12pm at Central United Methodist Church. Wisdom Study

Much Wisdom has been gleaned as we have worked our way through the Hebrew Scriptures in this class. Much more lies ahead. Any who desire to wrestle with Scripture for insights from another angle are welcome to join us. We meet Wednesdays at 10am in the Parlor. You just need your Bible and an open heart – packets will be provided. Contact Pastor Joseph (joseph@richmondcumc.com) with interest and questions.
 

Fireside Conversation

Monday afternoons at 1:30 we create space to share about our past week, ask questions about church and life, and open our Bibles to read what Jesus has commanded us to do. Come as you are able for each week brings new studies and conversations to light for us to Practice the Way of Jesus.
