Welcoming Pastor Phil

Pastor Phil Carder will be joining Central this coming Monday.  Please be in prayer for him.  If you feel so led, please take some time and write a note of welcome and share some of the great things about Richmond and Central with him.  You can drop these cards off in the office.  We will also be having a night out at the ball park on July 16 to show Pastor Phil our Richmond Jazz.  Rev. Phil’s first Sunday will be on the 18th with his first time sharing the Word with us coming on July 25th.  Central will be having a welcome luncheon for Pastor Phil on August 1.  This will be a potluck pitch-in, for more information please contact Jennifer Seger.

Grief Support Group

We are beginning a grief support group and welcome anyone who is in need of a little company walking through a loss. We hope to share and help each other. The plan is to meet for six sessions on the second and fourth Mondays at 2 PM in the memorial room here at the church, beginning July 12. Please contact Sherry Bailey at 765-277-6641, or sabailey7013@gmail.com to let us know of your plans to join us.

Prayer Walk

Prayer connects us daily to a loving God moving in our midst. In his 3 rules for Methodists, John Wesley calls us to both private and public prayer. On July 12th at noon, we will have a prayer walk through our neighborhood. We will meet by the Welcome Center, divide into small groups at the entrance of the church, and proceed in different directions. Along the way, we will pause to pick up trash and renew our streets and sidewalks. Together we will listen for God’s will for Central for the days ahead.  Please contact Pastor Joseph with any questions.

Real Discipleship Survey

We are told to follow Jesus, but how do I know where I stand in the journey…what to do next?  The Real Discipleship Survey is an instrument designed to support the development of maturing disciples at both the personal and congregational levels. It measures the level of maturity in each of six dimensions of discipleship: Worship, Hospitality, Open to Jesus, Obeying Jesus, Service, and Generosity. The Indiana Conference has purchased a conference-wide license which makes the survey free for all INUMC churches and congregants! Once you take the survey, you will receive your results along with some suggestions on how you can continue to mature in journeying with Jesus. You can find the links to the Real Discipleship Survey and the Instructions on our website at richmondcumc.com/exploring/

Do you love music? Do you love organizing even more?!

We need a few volunteers to come in about 5 hours a month to help organize and shelve choral and handbell music in the choir room. Make your own schedule and come in when you can! Contact Madeleine at Madeleine@richmondcumc.com for more information. Thank you!

Read the Gospels With Us

Jesus is the foundation and direction of all of our discipleship journeys. Join your Central Family and walking through the four Gospels this July. You can pick up a bookmark with the reading plan on it, in the church office. Bring the discussions of your Scriptural encounters to dinner table, small groups, and everyday life as we together re-center in Jesus’ story.

Altar Guild

Central’s Altar Guild works quietly, and behind the scenes, each week to be sure that the sanctuary candles are filled with oil, the pew pockets are filled with prayer cards and donation envelopes, that flowers are on the altar, and that an appropriate banner is hung. Each member of the Altar Guild team picks a month or maybe even two. During their month(s) they come into the church during the week to prepare the sanctuary for the Sunday service, or a funeral, or a wedding.  We also have wedding Ladies (Shanron Rider,Carol Bucher, Jennifer Hall, and Martha Hayes) who  attend to all the needs of the brides and grooms and their families. If you would like to become a member of Central’s Altar Guild, call the church office at 962-8543 or Ann Cashner at 765-962-8458.

Family Camp

The campfire calls once again as the calendar tilts toward Fall.  You and your family are invited to join Family Camp at Camp Moneto in wonderful Brown County on September 10-12.  In addition to the space to worship God in creation, there are over 700 acres to explore, climbing walls, archery, and memories to be made.  Make time to retreat and recharge with your Church family.  Scholarships are available. For more information and to sign-up, please contact Pastor Joseph.
