Pizza w/ the Pastor…and hymn sing!
It’s back! Join us Sunday July 17th for an informal time of fellowship in the Fellowship Hall following worship service (approximately 11:30am). We will provide Pizza, Salad, Dessert, and Drinks. Come and meet others who follow Jesus here at Central while learning about the latest from Pastor Joseph. After lunch, we will have a hymn sing with Madeleine to sing our favorites and learn a few new ones.
 
Central Bowling Night
Join us July 17th at 5pm for an evening of fellowship and fun at Richmond 40 Bowl’s Soul Bowl. The lanes will be open from 5-8pm. Please bring money for food, drinks and games. If you have not RSVP’s with Christin in the office, no worries, anyone can join later that evening for $5 a person.
 
Children’s Music Camp- 7/18-7/20
Central is excited to offer a music camp this summer available for grades 2nd through 6th from July 18th to 20th from 9:30am – 11:30am at Central UMC—. Please reach out to Madeleine Demetriades if you are interested in signing up, or able to volunteer: madeleine@richmondcumc.com
 
Church Grounds Shrubbery Trimming
July 23, 2022 from 8:30 am to 11:30 am. Church wide shrubbery trimming and cleanup. Bring your battery powered trimmers (three will be available), rakes, etc. for a fun morning of trimming the church shrubbery. And we need lots of cleanup help.
 
Questions and Response for UMC, Bible, Covenant, & Sexuality
Sunday Morning July 31 at 8:45am, Pastor Joseph will host a Question and Response time in the Fellowship Hall. This will be around issues of the UMC, human sexuality, our connectional covenant, and the Bible. All are invited to bring questions and Bibles as we seek to continue to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Shalom Sessions
With so much dividing us in our world today, the church can and should offer a third way of uniting us in following the way of Jesus. The church is a political (but not partisan) entity and we will be continuing the conversation of Central can be a place for all to build God’s shalom in the world. Join us on the 3rd Tuesdays of the month at 12:05 in the Fellowship Hall for a brown bag lunch as we discuss and listen to the matters and efforts breaking and making the Shalom of our community. On the 19th, we will be discussing abortion, gun control, and the ongoing debate within the UMC. Bring your lunch, your bibles, and a listening ear. May God break our hearts for what breaks his in this season.
Community Clean-up
On July 30th, There will be a clean-up of the Starr Neighborhood from 10 am – 1 pm. They will meet at 200 N. 13th St.  Trash bags and clean-up tools will be provided, but feel free to bring your own if you have one.
 
Back 2 School Bash
On August 6th, several area churches and organizations are joining forces to off a Back 2 School Bash for community members at 10th St. park from 11-1.  There will be a free meal, games, various services, and free school supplies to the first 500 who attend.  Central has been asked to join in the efforts by serving as volunteers.  If you feel led to serve at this event, please contact Pastor Joseph.  All are invited to come and join in the festivities.
 
Food Truck Party VBS
Summer! Glorious Summer! No classes, no school night bedtime and all those hours of sun! Maybe you are already thinking about how to fill them. Here’s one way – Vacation Bible School!
This year Central is proud to join in the fun with First UMC and Centerville UMC For Food Truck Party! Vacation Bible School is happening July 24-28 From 6-8 PM each evening at First UMC (318 National Road West) All pre-school – 5th graders are welcome! You can sign your child, grandchild or neighbor up by going to First UMC’s website below. VBS is not only for the kids – Volunteers are also needed! You can volunteer to be anything from a crew leaders to crafts to clean up and more! Tribe members welcome! Need more information or want to get more involved? Call Jen Seger, she is our Central VBS coordinator for this year!
 
New Members Class
As our community returns to school in August, we will be offering a New Members Class on Sunday Mornings in the Memorial Room. Whether this is your first Sunday or if you have been attending Central for years, this is for all called to commit prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness to Jesus here at Central. Paul tells us, “For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.” Please contact Pastor Joseph if you are interested in attending or would like more information.
