Central Blood Drive for Red Cross

Central United Methodist Church has been proud to partner with the American Red Cross and be a part of all they do. Our sixth blood for the Red Cross will be held on Thursday, May 5 between noon and 5:00. Did you know the Red Cross needs to collect more than 13,000 blood donations and more than 2,500 platelet donations each day and 84 percent of blood donations are given at blood drives like the one we are hosting. And did you know the blood collected by the Red Cross helps millions of patients in over 2,500 hospitals and other facilities across the country. The current blood shortage is critical, so now is the time to get registered. Go to redcrossblood.org and enter CUMCRICH into the box that says Find a Blood Drive. Find a time slot that is convenient for you and provide the requested information.

College and Young Adult Care Packages

Final exams are coming up and it can be a stressful time of year for many young adults. So we’re sending care packages full of good things! If you have a student in college/grad school or a young adult under 26, please send their name and mailing address to Pastor Phil (phil@richmondcumc.com). We’re also looking for volunteers to help assemble these and write cards for each student. Contact Pastor Phil if you’re interested. We plan to send these out by April 22.

Family Ministries Lunch

Families of youth and children, let’s share together. As we emerge from the pandemic and look to the future, we want to explore ways we can resource and reimagine our discipleship this summer and beyond. Join us Sunday, April 24, in the fellowship hall after worship. All parents, youth, and children are invited. Pizza, salad and drinks will be provided. See Pastor Phil if you have any questions.

Worship Workshop

April 21st at 6:30pm

In following Jesus, we have the privilege of worshipping the good God of the whole universe.  This daily posture towards God guides our every action. A. W. Tozer said it this way, “God wants worshipers before workers; indeed the only acceptable workers are those who have learned the lost art of worship.” Join us April 21st at 6:30pm in the sanctuary as we gather to reclaim, reinforce, and rejoice in this art. We will worship together. We will discuss the various aspects of worship. We will work on new practices of worship. Oswald Chambers wrote, “Stand true to God and he will bring out his truth in a way that will make your life an expression of worship.”Come and worship with us as we develop a daily posture of worship together.

Ukraine – UMCOR

Thank you to everyone who gave to UMCOR over the past few weeks. Central has been able to give $2,832.00 along with those who have given to UMCOR directly. Please continue to pray for all involved in the war in Ukraine and any who are in open conflict throughout the world.  If you still feel led to give, you may write a check to Central UMC and write “Ukraine” in the memo line.

Join a choir today!
The music ministry at Central is gearing up for great things in the fall. Please consider joining a music group at Central – there is the Wesley Ringers Handbell Choir, Chancel Choir and Joysingers Children’s Choir. You can also play music individually or in a small group for Sunday worship! Wesley Handbell Ringers are seeking FOUR more ringers so that we can employ our full five-octave set. Chancel Choir and Joysingers Children’s Choir are always open to new members. We have a fabulous time each week learning, singing and sharing together.
