Serving Refuge of Hope

Refuge of Hope has been an excellent ministry to some of the most vulnerable people in our neighborhoods – homeless women. They have overcome many obstacles and continue to serve with grace, love, and tenacity. Refuge has often been full and has recognized the need for expansion. They are currently planning to renovate the upstairs space at 1032 East Main Street to create more capacity, offer more ministry, and touch more lives with Jesus’ love. They are currently seeking teams who wish to aid in demolition and construction (eg. Swing a sledge hammer, carry out debris, etc.) to help them with this renewed vision. Refuge of Hope is in need of the following items: Toiletries and Cleaner, Paper towels, Laundry Soap, Dryer Sheets, new twin bed sheets, towels and washcloths. If you feel led to serve or give towards this effort, please contact the office to get connected.  For all of us, let us pray for this work and these people.

Invitation to Silence

CH Spurgeon writes, “There are times when solitude is better than society, and silence is wider than speech. We should be better Christians if we were more alone, waiting upon God.” Christian Discipleship calls us to a road where we will inevitably encounter silence. With Jesus, we can embrace it rather than avoid it. On April 26, we will again have an invitation to the spiritual discipline of silence. We will gather at Hayes Arboretum from 9-3 to learn more about the spiritual discipline, to pray, and to be in silence. The cost is $10 and is open to the public. Lunch will be included. Please contact Pastor Joseph by April 23rd to register.
