4/1/22 Updates

Morning of Service

For you were called to freedom. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. ~ Galatians 5:13. Service has long been part of the walk of a Christian.  John Wesley taught us to grow in our faith by “doing good of every possible sort, and, as far as possible, to all.” Tomorrow April 2nd we will provide ways of doing this together. Starting at 7:45am we will gather at Central for some coffee, doughnuts, fellowship, and centering prayer before sending groups out for works of Service after 8:00am. Projects will include visiting the nursing homes, picking up trash, cleaning out spaces, assembling picnic tables, cleaning up landscaping, moving furniture, etc.  If you are interested in serving, please come by 8:00am Saturday morning with a willing spirit.

Prayer Walk this Monday!
Prayer connects us daily to a loving God moving in our midst. In his 3 rules for Methodists, John Wesley calls us to both private and public prayer. On the first Monday of every month at noon, we will have a prayer walk through our neighborhood. We will divide into small groups at the entrance of the church and proceed in different directions. Along the way, we will pause to pick up trash and renew our streets and sidewalks. Please contact Pastor Joseph with any questions.

Central Blood Drive for Red Cross

Central United Methodist Church has been proud to partner with the American Red Cross and be a part of all they do. Our sixth blood for the Red Cross will be held on Thursday, May 5 between noon and 5:00. Did you know the Red Cross needs to collect more than 13,000 blood donations and more than 2,500 platelet donations each day and 84 percent of blood donations are given at blood drives like the one we are hosting. And did you know the blood collected by the Red Cross helps millions of patients in over 2,500 hospitals and other facilities across the country. The current blood shortage is critical, so now is the time to get registered. Go to redcrossblood.org and enter CUMCRICH into the box that says Find a Blood Drive. Find a time slot that is convenient for you and provide the requested information.

Ukraine – UMCOR

Our hearts break to see the terrible news continuing to stream from Ukraine. War is a great evil which harms our fellow image bearers in ways unimaginable. Jesus calls us to so much more in our love of neighbor. May there be monumental change and lasting peace soon. Our prayers continue for those in Ukraine, the ongoing Yemeni and Tigray Wars, and all those who live in houses where the threat of political violence hang over them every night. Please join us in ongoing prayer. If you feel led to give through our missional humanitarian ministry – UMCOR – where 100% of funds go directly to supporting the cause – you can do so here. If you would like to know more about what UMCOR is doing in Ukraine, you can visit their FAQ page HERE
